The LeFlaSys is one of the most up-to-date short-range air defense systems in the world. Flying targets can be attacked at a distance up to 6 km and an altitude of 3.5 km. The system consists of a total of 5 different aircraft, which are used together to form the LeFlaSys. The AFF (Reconnaissance, Command and Fire Control vehicle) on a Wiesel 2, is the eyes and brain of the system. Its 3D radar acquires targets and transfers the target data to the “Ocelot” weapons platform, which then launches up to four guided missiles. In 2001 the first system was handed over to the Federal German Armed Forces.
