The Focke-Wulf Fw190D-9 is known by the nickname “Long Nose Dora” due to its distinctive shape. The version equipped with an air-cooled radial engine was deployed in 1941 and was active not only as a fighter, but also as a fighter-bomber and reconnaissance aircraft. Under such circumstances, the D type appeared to counter Allied bombers and their escort fighters advancing at high altitudes. It was equipped with a liquid-cooled V-type 12-cylinder Junkers Jumo 213 engine. This supercharged engine ensured higher performance at medium altitudes. The length of the nose was extended by installing a long engine, and the rear part of the aircraft was also extended, giving it a unique long, slim style. Several different D types were produced, including prototypes, but the D-9 had the highest production numbers. Mass production began in August 1944, and it fought bravely against the Allied forces.
This model kit from Waltersons reproduces the Focke-Wulf Fw190D-9 deployed by the Luftwaffe in World War II. The kit’s parts are cast in plastic matching the German military aircraft color RML68. The canopy is made of clear parts so you can inspect the cockpit interior after completion; a pilot figure is also included. The landing gear can be built in landed or flight position; decals for its markings are included, as are decals for damage such as bullet holes. Order yours today!
