This is an injection-plastic airliner model kit.
The DC-8 is a large jet airliner that represents the first-generation jet aircraft; it’s also the world’s first passenger aircraft to fly at supersonic speeds. Developed as a successor to the DC-7C in 1952, orders were first taken in 1955; orders were received from American airlines and airlines all over the world, including Japan. The DC-8 was used for long-distance airline routes worldwide. The 50 series is equipped with a Pratt & Whitney JT3D turbofan engine; by improving quietness, fuel efficiency and cruising range, its improved performance resulted in a large number of orders. In Japan, JAL adopted the DC-8-32 as Japan’s first passenger jet aircraft in 1960, and they subsequently owned DC-8s of the 30, 50, and 60 series, using it as the main aircraft for international and domestic flights until its retirement in 1987.
