The Avro 685 York is a four-engine transport aircraft based on the Avro Manchester bomber after World War II. Lord Mountbatten (Louis Francis Victor Nicholas Mountbatten) was a British aristocrat who commanded a surprise attack on the Port of Diep in World War II; in December 1941, he became General Commander of the Southeast Asia Command, and was touted as “Mountbatten of Burma” when he was in charge of the battle with the Japanese Army. After the war, he served as Deputy King and Governor-General of India, and after returning to England, he held important positions in the British Army, including the Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean Fleet of the British Navy, the First Sea Lord, and the Chief of Defense Staff.
