The Ki-27 was developed by Nakajima in 1935 to replace the Kawasaki Ki-10 fighter biplane. What the Ki-27 lacked in speed and climbing ability, it made up in maneuverability. In 1939’s Battle of Khalkhin Gol, Ki-27s squared off against Soviet I-15 bipes and I-16 monoplanes. When faster I-16s appeared, Ki-27s no longer cut it. As a result, they were relegated to being bomber escorts during WWII’s early days.
Parts come molded in gray. Kit includes markings for I.J.A.A.F. 1st F.R. 2nd Company Capt. Keisuke Yamada Kagamihara A.F. June 1939.
