The Winjeel was a trainer aircraft produced by Commonwealth Aircraft of Australia, and was later operated as a forward air control aircraft. Its name is an Aboriginal word meaning “young eagle.” Designed as a training aircraft to replace the Tiger Moth and Wirraway used by the Royal Australian Air Force, the Winjeel first flew in 1951 and was operated as a training aircraft until 1974, and by the Air Force and Army as a forward-control aircraft until 1994. Even now, the Winjeel continues to serve as a civilian aircraft.
This 1/48-scale full-resin kit from Planet Models comes with a vacuum canopy, photo-etched parts and decals for four versions (two each, trainer and forward air control). The landing gear is white metal. Order yours today!
