This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.
The PT-17 Kaydet was developed by Stearman Aircraft Company as a military training aircraft. Its first flight was in 1934, but by then the aircraft’s structure was old-fashioned, with a biplane/hub-tensioned wooden frame; however, since its simple structure was suitable for mass production at low cost, a large number was ordered for pilot training. Stearman was acquired by Boeing in 1937, but production of the Kaydet continued. After the war, it was released in large quantities from the military and widely used by the private sector. Due to its high maneuverability, it’s capable of advanced aerobatics, and many are in operation today.
