Platz’s newest model kit of the Kawasaki C-1 features the eye-catching bright brown camouflage color, as used by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force’s 2nd Tactical Airlift Group to mark their 50th anniversary! the C-1 is a domestic medium-sized transport aircraft that made its deployment debut in 1973. Developed by the Technical Research and Development Institute of the Defense Agency and Nihon Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation, it first flew in November 1970. It’s equipped with two Pratt & Whitney JT8D turbofan engines. The rear door under the tail opens to allow boarding of troops and cargo; vehicles and artillery can be placed on pallets and air dropped via the same door. It’s capable of carrying eight tons of payload! It’s also capable of short-distance takeoff and landing (STOL) performance; it continues to play an active role in various missions in Japan today.

This multi-media model kit includes resin parts for the fuselage and wings; metal parts and photo-etched parts are used for the landing gear and details. This leads to an exceptionally realistic and delicate finish. A masking sheet for painting around the cockpit window is also included, as is a masking sheet for the camouflage pattern.
