Description

This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.

From the manufacturer:

The Sea Vixen was a postwar British twin-boom, twin-engine, all-weather, carrier-based jet fighter developed and built by the de Havilland Aircraft Company of Hatfield as the DH110, production being taken over by Hawker Sidderley Aircraft. The Sea Vixen was in service with the Fleet Air Arm from 1959 until 1972.

The swept-wing fighter was the first to feature a complete weapons system comprising Firestreak missiles, rockets and bombs plus BEC air interception radar AI.18.

The improved model FAW-2 was equipped with de Havilland Red Top AAM air-to-air missiles and Bullpup ground attack missiles.

A noteworthy feature of the Sea Vixen was the cockpit and canopy offset to the left. Its maximum speed was 690 mph.

Operational Sea Vixens were retired somewhat early, some moving to training units at Yeovilton, and were placed in service by U.S.-built FG.1 Phantoms.
