1/144 Grumman F7F-1 Tigercat

Description

This is a resin-cast aircraft kit.

Mini Wing from the Czech Republic releases the 1/144 Grumman F7F-1 Tigercat in full resin kit.

The F7F was the first twin-engine, single-seat fighter of the U.S. Navy, of which the prototype first flew in 1943, and its top speed far exceeded that of the Hellcat and Corsair, the dominant Navy fighters of the time.

It was armed with four each of 50-caliber machine guns and 20mm machine guns, and could also carry rockets, bombs, and torpedoes.

On the other hand, it was deemed too heavily armed, too heavy, and too fast in cruise speed to be able to slow down far enough to land on an aircraft carrier at the time, so production was given a lower priority.

However, due to its excellent cruise/maximum speed and good fuel economy relative to payload, most Tigercats were deployed to Marine Corps squadrons operating from land, where they were used as reconnaissance aircraft or night fighters.

The F7F-1 was the first production model and the fastest in the series.

It was almost identical to the prototype except for the R-2800-22W with water injection system, and it made its first flight in April 1944. 31 were produced.

This full resin kit includes a vacuum canopy and one set of U.S. Navy decals.

The kit measures approximately 96mm in length and 109mm in width when completed.

Despite the compact scale of 1/144, the details of the parts are sharp and the included decals are clearly printed.

This kit is also suitable for dioramas.
