US-2 is a Japanese large STOL amphibious aircraft designed for search and rescue (SAR). The US-2 replaced the older US-1A. The aircraft is currently operated by Japan Maritime Self Defense Force. It can take off and land on water within a very short distance. The unique spray suppressor and spray strip realize excellent seaworthiness. Together with its crew to cruise at extremely low speeds, the US-2 can take off and land on water with waves up to three meters high.
