Hasegawa’s beautiful A6M2 kit with markings for two aircraft flown by Petty Officer (Flight) Second Class Saburo Sakai. Who is considered as one of, if not the most legendary Zero-sen pilots. His impressive record includes over 200 combat missions and 60 kills while never losing an aircraft. In one of the most incredible feats of piloting ever recorded he managed to fly his crippled Zero 4 and half hours to return to his base. This after injuries to his right eye (which he lost use of), chest, leg, elbow and face. He later returned to battle after serving as a flight instructor and continued to log missions and kills. Among his last missions was the desperate battle over and on Iwo Jima during the invasion.
