This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.
Developed in the remarkable period of just 117 days beginning in April of 1940 by North American Aviation, the Mustang was first used in action by the British, but adopted by the U.S. after it, too, entered the conflict. Initial impressions of the type were less than spectacular, and it was primarily relegated to the ground attack and support role.
The Model B/C, however, replaced the U.S. Allison V-1710 12-cylinder engine of the A with the license-built British Packard-Merlin V-1650, somewhat harming pilot visibility on the ground, but immeasurably improving performance in the air, particularly at altitude. The B/C model was supplied in quantity to the British who used it as the “Mustang III” and equipped no less than 28 squadrons with it. Superior in speed, climbing ability, and maneuverability to any German aircraft of the day, it was used with tremendous success.
This kit contains parts molded in grey and clear plastic and includes decals. Builds two models measuring 135mm long with 150mm wingspans.
