This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.
The Lavochkin La-5 was a single-engine monoplane fighter developed by the Soviet Union’s Lavochkin Design Bureau during World War II. It served as the main fighter aircraft of the Red Army of Labor and Agriculture in the middle of the German-Soviet war. The first La-5 combat unit was formed in September of 1942, and was deployed in the Battle of Stalingrad. Its low-altitude maneuverability far surpassed that of conventional aircraft, and its agile response made it easy to recover from a stall; low-speed loops and Immelmann turns were also possible. The La-5 was used on the front lines since the Battle of Kursk in 1943. A variation with a different engine was produced to improve its basic performance. By the end of 1944, 9,920 La-5s had been produced; it was succeeded by the aerodynamically refined and lighter La-7.
This kit from Clear Prop! features newly-molded main wings and windshield parts that have different characteristics from the early version of the La-5; in addition, the cockpit, fuselage and canopy have been redesigned for easier assembly, and are also new-mold parts. These make this kit essentially a new-mold kit, compared to the early-version kit. The cockpit interior is precisely reproduced, and two types of canopy parts (open and closed) are included; photo-etched parts are included for the seatbelts and landing gear covers. Horizontal stabilizer parts and decals for six Soviet Air Force versions are also included. Order yours today!
