LOCKHEED F-22 Raptor is a very advanced fifth (newest) generation fighter in service with the United States Air Force. Work on it began in the 1980s. It was designed by the American corporation Lockheed Martin. The first flight took place in 1997, and it was officially accepted into service in 2005. The F-22 is characterized by advanced technologies that provide it with excellent maneuverability, radar stealth and the ability to conduct both air and ground operations. Its main task is air superiority. One of the key features of the F-22 is the so-called “supercruise” – the ability to maintain speed above sound without the need for additional fuel support. In addition, the aircraft is equipped with an advanced avionics system, the AN/APG-77 radar, and a unique radar cloaking system, which makes it difficult to detect by the enemy.
